Receiving wireless weather sensors

For several years I have been wanting to build a device to receive La Crosse brand weather sensors. I recently started looking into it and it turned out to be relatively simple to receive the sensors over USB with no embedded processor required.

The photo shows the working receiver on a plug-board. It only requires an FT232H to interface with USB, an RFM69HCW packet radio module, and an antenna. The receiver is powered from the USB cable.
